Street HP Reno – Developing street wide approach for housing for collective switch of energy systems to heat pump packaged modules
The LIFE Street HP Reno project aims to develop joint purchasing strategies for the replacement of energy systems with heat pumps for individual houses at the level of entire streets. The aim is to work together with all relevant stakeholders.
Local authorities (cities), housing associations and residents are to be convinced of the benefits of the approach. By pooling demand, joint purchasing programmes for heat pumps are to be created. Installers and solution providers will be involved in the process to encourage the development of customised, prefabricated and industrialised solutions that are more cost-effective and of higher quality. The aim of the project is to reduce costs through scaling effects and to increase the use of heat pumps in renovation projects. This should create a lever for the decarbonisation of heat in existing buildings.
The project is divided into three axes:
1st axis: Сharacterise and qualify individual housing typologies at the level of entire streets in order to better identify buildings suitable for the collective purchase of heat pumps, while integrating them into a deep renovation process in line with energy efficiency and decarbonisation objectives by 2050.
2nd axis: Develop and make available to stakeholders a range of financing packages and contracts for the collective purchase of heat pumps, based on a survey of consumers to better understand their expectations and on practicable and largely reproducible economic models.
3rd axis: Raise awareness among local authorities, installers and solution providers and then run a marketing campaign among residents to trigger a viral effect to significantly increase interest in this approach. This should lead to the creation of pilot/test projects that provide feedback for future follow-up projects.
